Caleb's Hike

Its weird how unimpeded by convention the trail is. People lose their names, and are known by their laughes. Best friends are made over night and then forgotten based upon walking pace. I've never been more grateful for a word of encouragement. Strangers become parenting figures who offer and supply food, water, shelter, assistance, or guidence. Dates are lost, and weather is remembered. Personification becomes reality and you start to not just hear but listen to nature's voice. Dreams accompany my steps during the day while my nights have grown dreamless. Everyone you meet could be anyone, but everyone is themselves. Lies don't exist.

  2. sounds like you are having fun and beginning to relax and enjoy your trip. The crazy and hectic world here in Cary sure misses you. The girls are drawing you some pictures so maybe in one of the next couple of towns i will mail them. Also, hopefully you got your card in franklin:) Laura gave the address. Well, keep the pics coming we love them. Maybe you should write a book when all this is over. You write so well.

  4. Hi Luke. My mom wanted me to tell you that she waited at Winding Stair Gap so she could see you up on the mountain. She said she could hear you and Caleb hollering from the trail but she couldn't see you. She said she was waving like crazy and hollered back. She's wondering if you could see or hear her. She had a blast with you and Caleb in Franklin. Pat and I did, too. Take care and know we are loving you sooooo much (and Caleb too).
